Abstract
Polarisation dependence of one phonon cross sections has been investigated in the Invar alloy Fe65Ni35. The variation of the polarisation ratios suggests that the magneto vibrational scattering is strongly dependent on the energy and wave vector of the phonon, indicating that the effective magnetic moments are reduced as the phonon energy increases.
