Abstract
The temperature and frequency dependence of elastic constants, CL, C44 and C' of Fe-Ni and Fe65 (Ni1-xMnx)35 Invar alloys have been measured by means of an ultra-sonic pulse echo technique. It has been revealed that (1) the anomalous increase in CL at low temperatures is the largest for Fe65Ni35; (2) the characteristic temperature of this anomaly, T*a, is higher than that of other low temperature anomalies and (3) T*a shows a frequency dependence.
