Abstract
Autocorrelation analysis is a useful tool to evaluate AP concentration profiles because it provides direct spatial information about concentration fluctuations in the profile. With the help of a computer program that simulates an AP experiment for an alloy with randomly distributed spherical precipitates, we studied the interpretation and evaluation of the autocorrelation coefficient. By varying the decomposition parameters we tested the reliability of microstructural information obtained from autocorrelation analysis.
