Abstract
This paper describes the damping capacity of Zn-15 ~ 27%Al and Zn-15 ~ 27%Al-0.02%Mg alloys casting. Such alloys are desirable to provide high damping of vibration. Cooling rates of solidification and quenching for the interior of castings are lower than that of the edge of castings. The damping capacity of both the edge and the interior of the casting was investigated and parameter controlling the damping effect of the alloy are discussed.
