Abstract
Lattice vibrations under hydrostatic high pressure, up to 180 kbar, were investigated in the layered materials, 2H-MoS2, 2H-MoSe2 and α2H-MoTe2, by Raman scattering. Including the rigid layer mode, one A1g and two E2g- modes were observed in each material. The energy of the rigid layer mode rapidly increased with pressure, but the increase became slow above 50 kbar. The pressure dependences of the interlayer shear force constant and intralayer shear force constant were obtained using a linear chain model.
