Abstract
The Raman spectrum of gaseous TCNQ was obtained. Vibrations were detected at 40, 76, 145, 340, 1225, 1454, 1606 and 2230 (± 2) cm-1. The pressure dependence of the Raman modes in crystals of TCNQ, TTF, K(TCNQ), CS2(TCNQ)3 perylene-TCNQ and phenazine-TCNQ, were obtained in a diamond cell in the pressure range 0 to 70 Kbar. The mode Gruneisen parameter were found to span several orders of magnitude. It is concluded that all of the observed low frequency modes in this class of compounds are mixed modes of internal and external characters.
