Abstract
We have investigated the dynamical properties of an isoenergetic random hopping system by a computer simulation restricting ourselves to 2D systems for computational reasons. This allowed us to study quasi-infinite systems in space without boundaries. The results show that the dispersive behaviour of the current is present but limited to a time scale corresponding to hops to a few sites only. After this time the system is governed by a quasi-Gaussian behaviour. No indication is found that this pattern changes for very low densities not accessible to our present simulation approach. Comparison with a recent theory by Movaghar et al. for the frequency dependence of the conductivity is made and near perfect agreement is found if the density correction factor is altered for the 2D case.
