Abstract
The phonon self-energy in an anisotropic Heisenberg ferromagnet with single-ion anisotropy is derived using diagrammatic theory. The result is an improvement over those hitherto reported in that the optical branch of the magnetic excitations arising from the single-ion anisotropy is fully accounted for.
