Abstract
The compositional dependence of the magnetic properties of the Pr2 (Fe1-xCox)14B series, including anisotropy fields and magnetic transitions, has been measured for twelve different values of x. The anomalously large increase in the Pr anisotropy near the cobalt end member appears to be due to the persistence of a valence instability in Pr up to x ≈ 0.7 and the instance of a normal Pr3+ state thereafter.
