MULTIPLE ELECTRON CAPTURE
A. NIEHAUSFysisch Laboratorium, Rijksuniversiteit Utrecht, Princetonplein 5, NL-3584 CC Utrecht, The Netherlands
Abstract
The present state of knowledge on multiple capture processes is illustrated by discussing a selection of recently published experimental results in the framework of the "molecular classical overbarrier model (MCBM)". For this discussion the model is extended to allow the calculation of angular differential cross sections for well defined capture processes. Finally, several points of interest regarding the spectroscopy of multiply excited states populated by two-electron capture are discussed using recently published or original data from electron spectroscopy.
