IS LASER-INDUCED NUCLEATION DUE TO A BULK LONG-WAVELENGTH INSTABILITY ?

Abstract
The speculative suggestion is made that laser-Induced Nucleation of single crystals from amorphous thin films is due to an instability of the system against certain long-wavelength fluctuations, analogous to spinodal decomposition of binary mixtures.
