Abstract
On the basis of various experimental results for the epitaxial relationships between f.c.c. and b.c.c. substrate/deposit systems, simple geometrical criteria are proposed to predict favorable epitaxial relationships in a given system with any substrate plane orientation. It is found that the present criteria are excellently applicable to the understanding of experimentally observed epitaxial relationships for the Fe/Cu system with low- and high-index substrate orientations.
