SPIN WAVE STIFFNESS CONSTANT OF IRON

Abstract
The spin wave stiffness constant D of BCC iron is calculated within the spin density functional theory and the local density approximation. The electronic structure is described by the linearized muffin-tin orbital method within the atomic sphere approximation. The result obtained is in excellent agreement with experiment.
