PHONONS IN SUPERIONIC CONDUCTORS

W. Hayes

Clarendon Laboratory, University of Oxford, United Kingdom

Abstract
Detailed information about the nature of disorder in superionic conductors can be obtained from the study of vibrational excitations using Raman, Brillouin and neutron scattering techniques. The present review will be concerned with the application of these techniques to materials such as Agl, CaF2 and sodium β-alumina, with emphasis on the latter.
