Abstract
Guided by theories on open-shell molecules, we have performed a series of model experiments which allowed us to construct organic molecules having nonet (S = 4) and even higher spin multiplicities. In crystals spin alignment was achieved over several neighboring molecules. Efforts to synthesize high-spin polymers and construct macroscopic spins are described.
