A SINGLE CRYSTAL NEUTRON SCATTERING STUDY OF THE MAGNETIC ORDERING IN PRASEODIMIUM HEXABORIDE

Abstract
The magnetic ordering in PrB6 has been studied by neutron diffraction on single crystal. PrB6 orders at TN=6.9 K in an incommensurate double-k structure. At TIC= 3.9 K a lock-in transition leads to a commensurate double-k ordering. These results are discussed on the basis of quadrupolar and magnetic interactions. The behaviour of PrB6 is compared with that of CeB6 and NdB6.
