Abstract
Magnetic measurements on a single crystal of the tetragonal compound CeAl2Ga2 are presented. The determined crystal field leads to a |±1/2) ground state, and to a large anomaly on the [001] susceptibility below 60 K. The results are consistent with the long-period commensurate antiferromagnetic structure with a small ferromagnetic component determined previously.
