Abstract
The decomposition of ferrite during 475 °C embrittlement of duplex stainless steels has been investigated as a function of nitrogen content. AP/FIM and TEM show similar decomposition behaviour in both low and high nitrogen alloys but microhardness measurements made on the ferrite were not consistent with these results.
