OPTICAL SWITCHING IN GLASS FIBERS : EXPERIMENTS

Abstract
In this paper we discuss the reasons behind the current interest in all-optical switching and signal-processing, review recent progress in glass fiber devices, and describe some new results on a 2-core fiber nonlinear coupler device which has the fastest switching time ever measured for any switching device.
