Abstract
The photoelectron spectra of free Ca atoms were studied in the photon energy range of the 2p → 3d resonances (340 eV ≤ hω/2pi ≤ 370 eV). The intensity of the dominant 2p5 3s2 3p6 4s2 3d → 2p6 3s2 3p4 4s2 3d εl autoionization lines strongly varies with the photon energy. Two step decay processes result in Ca+ 3p5 nln'l' → Ca++ 3p6 and Ca++ 3p4 4s2 → Ca+++ 3p5 Auger lines observed for kinetic energies below 30 eV.
