Abstract
From the upgraded CERN antiproton ([MATH]) "factory" high intensity and low emittance [MATH]-beams in the keV-MeV region will be available for detailed atomic collision experiments. The very first investigations of [MATH] collisions in He, Ne, and Ar gases gave the most surprising results : The double ionization cross section for [MATH] on He is up to twice as high as that for protons. Similar effects are found in Ne and Ar. The x rays emitted after the [MATH] capture in atoms offers very interesting possibilities within atomic, nuclear and particle physics. Many new collision experiments are already in preparation.
