Abstract
Bremsstrahlung isochromat spectra (BIS) of REAl2 intermetallics (RE = La, Ce, Nd, Sm) recorded at [MATH]ω0 = 1008 eV will be presented. Additional electron energy loss spectra (EELS) measured under indentical target conditions at Ep = [MATH]ω0 identify secondary structures in the BIS spectra as replicas of the 4f-final state intensity. For LaAl2 and CeAl2 a comparison of the deconvoluted BIS spectra with DOS calculations of the extended states will be given. For the γ-Cerium like compound CeAl2 a small f0 - contribution c(f0) ≈ 0.05 to the ground state follows from a new evaluation procedure.
