Abstract
When a five axis robot is used to cut and weld sheets of metal with a CO2 laser, it is quite interesting to know where and how is your focal point from the lens. The influence of the lens position from the laser beam waist is studied. Which paramaters are important, and how must be setting ? It is shown that a particular adjustment of the distance between the lens and the piece have no influence on the focal point characteristics. A large beam with a low divergence and the beam waist inside the five axis robot is the best triplet to cut and weld very well.
