Abstract
APFIM experiments have been used to characterise the early stages of precipitation in high purity and commercial AlZnMg alloys. The development of G-P zones has been followed. Their composition, and those of intermetallic phases in a commercial alloy, 7018, have been studied after a variety of heat treatments.
