Abstract
The superplastic properties of relatively thick, 0.44 cm, gauge superplastic 2090 sheet produced by a special thermomechanical hot rolling process are examined. Superplastic tensile elongations are highest in the longitudinal orientation and lowest in the long transverse orientation with all values in excess of 600%. The post-superplastically formed strength levels are lower than those of nondeformed 2090. The loss of strength is attributed to dynamic recrystallization and cavitation during forming.
