Abstract
The metal coordination sphere in the blue copper proteins, azurin and stellacyanin, has been studied by EXAFS. The pH has little influence on the copper coordination in azurin. In both azurin and stellacyanin, the spread in the Cu-N(His) bonds increases upon reduction and a sulphur ligand in addition to S(Cys) is observed.
