Abstract
The kinetic behavior of the isothermal martensitic transformation under a constant load has been studied with Fe-Ni-Mn and Fe-Ni-Mn-C alloys in order to elucidate the rate controlling mechanism of the transformation. The results support the mechanism previously proposed by the present author that the transformation rate is controlled by thermally activated motion of lattice dislocations to relax the shape strain of the transforming martensite plate.
