Abstract
We have calculated the influence on the dislocation resonance peak of (i) geometrical and thermal kinks, (ii) pinning behavior of perfect and dissociated dislocations, (iii) plastic deformation. It is found that the influence of kinks in fcc metals is negligible at all temperatures. The difference between Al and Cu regarding their pinning behavior is traced back to the difference in stacking fault energy. Finally it is shown how attenuation measurements can yield information about defect production and pinning during plastic deformation.
