THE SPECTROSCOPY OF TOKAMAKS

Klapisch M.

Abstract
The importance of line spectra of highly ionized heavy atoms in Tokamak plasma is recalled. A short review is given of methods, mostly theoretical, used for identifying lines : ab initio computation of wavelengths and intensities. The case of unresolved transition arrays is described. These methods are illustrated by identification of forbidden lines. The need for more data on atomic coefficients is underlined.
