Abstract
The effect of variations in the radius of the rare-earth ion R in RBa2Cu3Oy ceramics on the Néel temperature (TN) and magnetic entropy are identified. Parallel trands in TN and the de Gennes factor with radius indicate that superexchange leads to antiferrornagnetism in the rare-earth sublattice.
