Abstract
Neutron diffuse scattering and saturation magnetization experiments have been made on single crystals specimens of Fe3-cMncSi with c = 0.164 and 0.284 at room temperature. Atomic clustering of Mn atoms on the B sublattice has been revealed. A model of magnetic moment distribution around Mn impurities has been developed and fitted to the experimental magnetic diffuse cross sections. Results obtained lead to the conclusion that the magnetic moment on the Mn atom is about 0.6 µB at room temperature, and is very likely to be strongly temperature dependent.
