Abstract
The field dependence of the hyperfine splitting of Ho3+ in yttrium ethylsulphate has been studied by nmr in the neighbourhood of an electronic energy crossover. Analysis of the data requires diagonalization of the Hamiltonian of the combined electronic and nuclear system. Results strikingly confirm the validity of crystal field theory.
