PCI EFFECTS IN INNER-SHELL PHOTOIONIZATION
V. SCHMIDTFakultät für Physik, Universität Freiburg, Hermann-Herder- Strasse 3, D-7800 Freiburg, F.R.G.
Abstract
The most obvious manifestation of post collision interaction (PCI) in inner shell photoionization concerns the energy exchange between the outgoing photoelectron and Auger electron. This manifestation of PCI is described in detail with emphasis to the effect of a finite velocity of the Auger electron (retarded PCI). The distinct consequences of retarded PCI are discussed for photoionization, electron impact excitation, and electron impact ionization. Finally, some possible future directions of PCI in inner-shell photoionization are suggested.
