Abstract
Through the experimental study of the photochemical reaction Cs (7p) + H2 → CsH + H it is shown that the use of supersonic molecular beams of particles together with C.W. tunable laser beams to excite reagents and to probe product states leads to high resolution state-to-state Chemistry. For this reaction, one has get :
- Vasiations of cross sections versus energy, close to threshold,
- the dependence of reactivity with the fine structure of Cs atoms,
- the dependence of reactivity with the polarization orientation of the laser beam, as observed on hyperfine components of Cs lines,
- informations about the angular scattering of products.
