BROAD-BAND EMISSION OF Cr3+ IN MgAl2O4 SPINEL

Abstract
The double luminescence behaviour of Cr (III) in synthetic MgAl2O4 spinel was observed. The nature of such a behaviour is investigated by means the time-resolved luminescence studies at different excitation wavelengths. It is shown that the broad-broad emission observed in synthetic spinel is due to the spin-allowed 4T24A2 fluorescence transition.
