PHONON AND PSEUDO-MAGNON TRANSPORT IN COOPERATIVE JAHN-TELLER SYSTEMS

Abstract
Stimulated by measurements of Daudin and Salce it is shown that in E-b1, b2 systems like TmVO4 one-phonon scattering is of minor importance for phonon transport. Strong effects onto the heat conductivity arise from the new transport path of the pseudo-magnon system and from the 2 phonon-1 magnon relaxation path. Explicite expressions are given.
