Abstract
We have studied the role of thermal expansion in the thermal conductivity of solids. By treating the Grüneisen constant as a temperature dependent semiadjustable parameter we find that the high temperature lattice thermal conductivity of Ge and Si can be explained. The fitted values of the Grüeisen constants show reasonable agreement with recent experimental and theoretical results.
