Abstract
The magnetic after-effect spectra and their annealing behaviour were measured on Fe80-xNixP20-yBy alloys between 4.2 K and 520 K. Three relaxations were observed : (A) a relaxation with an almost temperature-independent amplitude between 4.2 K and 300 K, ( B ) a broad relaxation peak which in Fe40Ni40P14B6 reaches from 350 K to 450 K and anneals out between room temperature and 500 K, (c) a relaxation maximum just below the Curie temperature Tc (provided Tc < 520 K). The relaxations are interpreted in terms of structural rearrangements in the amorphous state : Relaxation A is tentatively assigned to tunnelling-controlled rearrangements. To B two relaxation processes contribute : (B1) the reorientation of pairs of metal atoms in the vicinity of free volume, (B2) the jumping of metalloid atoms between sites located between two metal atoms.
