Abstract
The dc magnetic susceptibility of the liquid alloys Na-Sb, Na-Bi, Li-Sb, Li-Bi and Li-Pb was measured. Na-Sb, Na-Bi, Li-Sb and Li-Bi exhibit a strong variation in the susceptibility depending upon composition, with a metal-to-semiconductor transition near the stoichiometric composition (Na3Sb, Na3Bi, Li3Sb, Li3Bi). At the stoichiometric composition, a relatively strong diamagnetic minimum was found in these alloys. In addition the susceptibility of Li-Pb shows a minimum at the stoichiometric composition Li4Pb, but less pronounced than in the other alloys.
