Abstract
Lifetimes of the (1s 2s 2p) 4P state in oxygen and in neon have been measured with a pulsed beam delayed Auger electron coincidence apparatus. Quenching cross sections have been extracted from the target pressure-dependent lifetimes t(p). Lifetimes t(0, p→0) = (25.9 ± 2) nsec and t(Ne, p→0) = (12.0 ± 1) nsec have been determined.
