NUCLEAR RELAXATION OF POLARIZED 3He DILUTED BY LIQUID 4He AT 4K IN LOW MAGNETIC FIELDS

Résumé
On a mesuré le temps de relaxation nacléailre longitudinal des solutions de 0,07% de 3He polarisé dans 4He liquide à 4.2 K en se servant d'un magnétomètre du type SQUID dans des champs magnétiques au-dessous de 3 mG. Des temps de relaxation de 5 jours ont été observés au moyen d'une cellule en Pyrex de 1 cm de diamètre dont la paroi était recouverte d'un manteau de H2 solide.
Abstract
Longitudinal nuclear relaxation times of 0.07% solutions of polarized 3He in liquid 4He have been measured at 4.2 K by use of a SQUID magnetometer in magnetic fields below 3 mG, Relaxation times of 5 days were obtained with a 1-cm-diam Pyrex cell when a wall coating af solid H2 was used.
