PARTON MODELS OF LARGE P⊥ PROCESSES

Abstract
Electroproduction and weak interactions in the deep inelastic region encourage the idea that hadrons are made of constituents, or partons. One might hope that these constituents would also manifest themselves in purely hadronic reactions. If so, the best hope is to look at large p⊥ phenomena. However even here the picture is cloudier than in the case of current processes. These latter yield Bjorken scaling as a simple consequence of point like partons and suitably softened dynamics [1]. In hadronic processes more explicit physical assumptions are needed to get results.
