TRANSPORT OF HIGH ENERGY PHONONS

Abstract
A brief review of high frequency phonon transport experiments indielectric solids is presented. A major emphasis of this paper is on recenttime of flight experiments on the generation and propagation of near zone-edgetransverse acoustic phonon pulses in III-V semiconductors such as GaAs. Thetheoretical status of lifetimes of high frequency phonons is also discussed.
