Abstract
We discuss the importance of the interchain exchange mechanism for the stabilization of antiferromagnetic long-range ordering and for the superconducting pairing interaction in the Bechgaard salts. It is shown how the dimensionality crossover can frustrate magnetic ordering under pressure while favoring superconductivity.
