Abstract
The magnetic bahaviour of U (Fe, Cr)2 compounds was studied. UFe2 is a ferromagnet with Curie temperature TC ≈ 160 K and a spontaneous moment µs ≈ 1.2µB/f.u. Substitution of Cr for Fe leads to a rapid depression of both TC and µs ; the critical concentration for ferromagnetism has been found to be 12 % Cr. The discussion is given in the context of magnetism in all U-3d Laves phases.
