OPTICAL AND MAGNETO-OPTICAL PROPERTIES OF Nd3S4 SINGLE CRYSTALS

Abstract
The optical reflectivity of Nd3S4 and La3S4 has been determined from 0.03 to 12 eV. In addition, the magneto-optical Kerr rotation and ellipticity of Nd3S4 has been measured from 0.5 to 5 eV. A maximum Kerr rotation of 2.3° occurs at 0.8 eV and is attributed to intraband transitions. The f → d interband transition is found near 4 eV.
