Abstract
The temperature and magnetic field dependence of the low-energy cascade electron spin polarization is measured to determine the surface to bulk exchange interaction and the magnetic surface anisotropy on clean and chemically and physically modified surfaces of polycrystalline Ni80Fe20 and amorphous NiFeB0.5. The surface magnetization Ms (H, T) depends critically on the state of the surface.
