Abstract
High resolution chlorine Kβ x-ray spectra have been obtained from a number of ionic inslators . It has been found that the satellite transitions between 1s-1 3p-1 and 3p-2 doubly ionized states are extremely sensitive to the bonding. The correlation between the relative Kβx satellite intensity and the Kβ1,3 width in rocksalt-type crystals is similar to the trends found in the oxygen spectra.
