Abstract
Since 1985, 28 bronchial tumours have been treated by photochemotherapy - HpD (PCT - HpD). That group involved 25 men with primary, non obstructive squamous cell bronchial carcinomas, or in situ carcinomas. Following intravenous injection of 2,5 mg/Kg of hematoporphyrin derivative, the tumour is submitted to irradiation by a beam of light of 630 nM wavelength, coming from a Laser Argon Dye. We have recorded 68 % of histologically proved cure. The longest follow up is 20 months. That method provides an eventual radical treatment for small size lesions. The photosensitisation induced by that form of treatment was uneventful.
