Abstract
We utilise a 8kW continuous wave laser in our laboratory for R & D project to determine a weldability of multispot welds in assembly lines. This paper shortly describes the specific technologies employed in the laser source. It analyses next the first results obtained for different joint configurations as well as the mechanical characteristics of the welds. Lastly it points out some particular problems raised in the adaptation of the principle to multispot line.
